Just a reminder that the Jellie Park trip is tomorrow. Make sure you have your togs, a towel and sunblock on before school. You will also need to bring a picnic lunch to share and a drink bottle with water. See you there. :)

Our Awesome Buddies
In Room 10 we have so much fun and are learning all the time with our awesome Room 1 buddies.
Check out how we help our buddies and how they help us to be better role models.
I help my buddy by teaching them to follow the instructions
and playing fun games. My buddy helps me when she listens to me and we can do
the right thing together. My buddy is lots of fun. Tiare and Keilia.
I help my buddy by helping them to do things by themselves better. I can help them with their writing. My buddy helps me to be patient and work with him. Geordan and Ashton.
I help my buddy by trying to be a good role model, teaching her to speak pleasantly and politely. My buddy helps me because I can now have a new friend to help in the playground. Connor and Amber.
I help my buddy by getting him to follow instructions. I ask
my buddy if he knows what to do and then I do it together with him. My buddy
helps me to feel good about myself because I know I am helping him. Hailey and
Josh.
I help my buddy by talking to him and showing him the actions
when we’re dancing. My buddy helps me to think about next steps – sometimes my
buddy knows what to do so I have to teach him something new or extra. I have to
keep thinking. Viliami and Sione.
I help my buddy if they’re in trouble in the playground I see if they’re all right and take them to get an ice pack. My buddy helps me to
wait my turn and care about others better. Kohatu and Zara.

Simple Machines
In Room 10 we have started to learn all about different machines. We have been looking at simple machines- some of the children didn't realise that we have so many simple machines around us. For example; can openers, forks, screw drivers, scissors and so many more...
- a screw
- a pulley
- a wedge
- gears
- a handle/lever
- a wheel and axel
- an inclined plane
Remember to bring in a simple machine from home to share this week and see if you can describe the parts and how it works.
Check out this awesome website that has been helping us with our learning...
A huge congratulations to our amazing Waltham Choir
On Wednesday night the Waltham School Choir performed in the Kids for Kids Concert - 'Everything is Ka Pai' at Wigram Museum. It was an exciting and fantastic night and it was great to see lots of parents coming to watch the show.
Here are some photos from the day/night...
This was our first ever Waltham Choir to participate in this event and the dedication and effort the children put in was truly outstanding. The choir are excited and getting ready for their next performance at the end of year assembly.

A Fantastic Start to Term 4
Welcome back to the beginning of the last Term for 2013. The year is whizzing by and the term is busy and full of lots of exciting learning and fun.
I look forward to catching up with parents and caregivers this week for our Learning Conferences. If you have not yet made a conference time please feel free to ring the office and we can work with you to make a time that suits.
Our school choir has their 'Everything is Ka Pai' performance coming up next Wednesday. They have been practising throughout the year and sound beautiful. If you are interested in coming to see them perform there will be door sales on the night: 6.30pm Wednesday the 30th October- at the Wigram Museum.
We are also practising for our school Athletics Day, we will be playing run, jump throw games for fitness and working on our skills and technique over the next 5 weeks.
Our inquiry focus is science and technology based this term. The children and I are excited to be learning all about machines - what they are and how they work/help people. I have welcomed them to bring things to school or share any knowledge they have on machines.
It has been great to see so many smiling faces back at school and hear all about your holidays.
I look forward to seeing lots of you Wednesday and Thursday at our learning conference,
Miss Dolamore :)

Week 2 Still Swimming
What a fantastic start to Term 3. I have really enjoyed seeing the children learning so much, and gaining extra confidence in the water at swimming last week.
Remember we still have one more week of swimming lessons to go - so don't forget your togs Monday morning.
Thank you also to the children that have returned their pack of cards - we will be using these at school to continue to practice our basic facts and gain confidence and speed. If you have another pack at home - keep practicing- every little bit helps.
Miss Dolamore.
